The Brazilian Ministry of Health has published their latest update on Microcephalic births, with the data valid through the second of January, bringing 2015's total to over 3,000 cases now under investigation.

 Once again, we see an increase of just  under 200 cases over the previous week.

In a normal week Brazil would expect to see two, perhaps three cases, but starting in October Brazil began seeing a massive increase in microcephalic birth defects (see WHO Update: Microcephaly In Brazil) which have run at rates more than 100 times greater than normal.

 The current theory is that maternal infection during the 1st and 2nd trimester with the recently arrived mosquito-borne Zika virus is behind this sudden surge in birth defects, but hard evidence is still lacking and a conclusive link may take months to establish.



With Carnival only a month away, the Summer Olympics scheduled for August in Rio, and the rainy (read: mosquito) mosquito ramping up, there are great concerns over the future spread of this virus - both in Brazil and across the Americas (see  Rio Worries Over A `Zika Summer').

Amazonas State registered the first suspected case. Are under investigation 3,174 cases recorded nationwide

The Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday (5) the first epidemiological report 2016 about suspected cases of microcephaly related to Zika virus. The information refers to data until January 2. Since the beginning of the investigation have been reported 3,174 suspected cases of the disease in newborns of 684 municipalities in 21 Brazilian states. For the first time, it is being investigated a case in the state of Amazonas. Also under investigation 38 babies with microcephaly deaths possibly related to Zika virus.

The state of Pernambuco, the first to identify an increase of microcephaly, continues with the greatest number of suspected cases (1,185), representing 37.33% of the total registered across the country. Next are the states of Paraíba (504), Bahia (312), Rio Grande do Norte (169), Sergipe (146), Ceará (134), Alagoas (139), Mato Grosso (123) and Rio de Janeiro ( 118).

MOBILIZE NATIONAL - The Ministry of Health has gathered efforts to fight the mosquito Aedes aegypti, calling on the government and the population. The federal government has mobilized 19 ministries and other federal agencies to act jointly in this confrontation. Thus, visits to homes for elimination and vector control won the strengthening of military and community health workers, in addition to endemic agents already working regularly in these activities. The guidance is for this group to act even in the joint efforts of the organization.
In December, the Ministry of Health sent over 17.9 tons of Larvicide to the states of the Northeast and Southeast, totaling 114.4 tons for the whole country last year, enough to treat 57.2 billion liters of water . For this year, we have been acquired over 100 tons of the product, which ensures supply until June 2016.

To assist in the implementation of the National Plan to Combat microcephaly, it was set up the National Centre for Coordination and Control for Combating microcephaly. The aim is to intensify the mobilization to fight the mosquito  Aedes aegypti, by monitoring and tracking of all actions at the national and local levels. They are also being installed state rooms, with representatives from the Ministry of Health, Departments of Health, Education, Public Security, Social Welfare, Civil Defense and Armed Forces.

ZIKA - Currently, the movement of the Zika is confirmed by PCR with molecular biology technology. From the confirmation in a particular locality, the other diagnoses are made ​​clinically, for medical assessment of symptoms.

The Ministry of Health trained over 11 public laboratories to perform the diagnosis of Zika. Relying on the five reference units in Brazil for this type of examination, there are already 16 centers with the knowledge to perform the test. In the next two months, the technology will be transferred to 11 more laboratories, totaling 27 units prepared to analyze 400 samples a month from suspected cases of Zika across the country.

So far, they are with indigenous circulation of 19 states Zika virus. They are: Mato Grosso do Sul, Roraima, Amazonas, Para, Rondonia, Mato Grosso, Tocantins, Maranhao, Piaui, Ceara, Rio Grande do Norte, Paraiba, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Bahia, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Paraná.

ORIENTATION - The ministry advises pregnant women that they keep monitoring and prenatal consultations, with the completion of all tests recommended by your doctor. The Ministry of Health reinforces the guidance of not consume alcohol or any other drugs, not use drugs without medical prescription and avoid contact with people with fever or infection.
It is also important that pregnant women adopt measures to reduce the presence of disease-transmitting mosquitoes by eliminating breeding sites, and protect themselves from mosquito exposure, keeping doors and windows closed or screened, wear pants and long-sleeved shirt and use repellents allowed for pregnant women.

Although there doesn't seem to be any official announcement yet from the Zhejiang Provincial Ministry of Health, state media outlets in China are reporting on a recently diagnosed H7N9 case in the port city of Ningbo in Zhejiang province.

Details are scant, other than reported exposure to live poultry.


Unlike the HPAI H5 viruses (H5N1, H5N8, etc) which can cause high morbidity and mortality in poultry, H7N9 is asymptomatic in most birds, and so chickens are `stealth' carriers of the virus.  Without any obvious symptoms, bird owners - and buyers - have no idea that their birds pose a human health hazard.


All of which makes the control of H7N9 extremely difficult, and the risks of exposure much higher than with the Highly pathogenic H5 viruses.

Ningbo report one case of human infection with H7N9

BEIJING, Jan. 5 Ningbo (Reporter Gilbert?) January 5, the reporter from Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province Health and Family Planning Commission was informed that, January 4 Ningbo Yinzhou report one case of human infection with H7N9 avian influenza.

Since March 2013 the first reported cases of human infection with H7N9 avian influenza epidemic has passed several seasons in China. Authorities reminded the autumn and winter flu, H7N9 avian influenza and other respiratory diseases high season, as the weather turns cold, the risk of H7N9 infection also increases.

Cara Membuat Bakar Ikan Etong Resep Sambal Oelek
Resep Bakar Ikan Etong Sambal Oelek - Ikan etong adalah jenis ikan laut yang awalnya memang tidaklah sefamiliar ikan bawal, kakap, atau jenis ikan tawar seperti gurame dan ikan mas, dikarenakan ikan etong memiliki kulit yang keras. Akan tetapi dibalik kulit luar ikan etong yang keras dan kasar tersebut, ternyata terdapat daging yang padat dan empuk, serta sangat enak dan nikmat untuk dikonsumsi. Menu ikan etong bakar semakin populer dan mudah dijumpai pada rumah makan atau restoran di daerah Subang Jawa Barat, bahkan sekarang sudah sering ditemukan di daerah-daerah lainnya.

Sebelum mengolah ikan etong menjadi ikan bakar yang enak, kita harus melepaskan kulitnya terlebih dahulu, untuk lebih praktisnya tinggal minta tolong penjualnya untuk mengulitinya. Seperti halnya ikan bakar lainnya, cara membuat ikan etong bakar juga semakin sedap disajikan dengan sambal sebagai pelengkapnya. Selain sambal kecap atau sambal jahe, kita juga dapat menghidangkannya dengan sambal oelek (ulek) pedas untuk cocolannya.
Resep Ikan Etong Bakar
Persiapan Bahan dan Bumbu Ikan Etong Bakar
  • 1 ekor ikan etong
    1 buah jeruk nipis untuk lumuran
  • 3 cm lengkuas digeprek
  • 1 batang serai digeprek
  • 1/2 sdt garam
  • 1/2 sdt merica bubuk
  • 1/2 sdt gula pasir
  • 100 ml air
  • minyak untuk menumis
Bumbu-bumbu yang dihaluskan :
  • 7 butir bawang merah
  • 4 siung bawang putih
  • 5 cm kunyit
  • 4 butir kemiri
  • 1 sdm ketumbar
  • 4 buah cabe merah besar
Cara Membuat Ikan Etong Bakar
  1. Lepaskan kulit ikan etong, buang isi perut serta kerat-kerat badannya, lalu cuci bersih. Lumuri dengan air jeruk nipis dan diamkan sekitar 15 menit.
  2. Panaskan sedikit minyak, tumis bumbu halus, serai dan lengkuas hingga harum. Tuang air, garam, gula pasir dan merica, kemudian aduk-aduk hingga matang dan kuah mengering.
  3. Lumuri ikan dengan tumisan bumbu halus tadi hingga merata termasuk ke dalam perut ikan, diamkan lagi selama 60 menit atau hingga bumbu benar-benar meresap. Selanjutnya bakar ikan hingga matang merata, sambil diolesi dengan sisa bumbu tumisan tadi setiap kali ikan dibalik.
Bahan Sambal Oelek
  • 4 buah cabe merah besar buang tangkai
  • 20 buah cabe rawit merah buang tangkai
  • 5 butir bawang merah kupas kulit
  • 2 siung bawang putih kupas kulit
  • 1 buah tomat
  • 2 sdt terasi udang dibakar
  • 1 sdt gula merah
  • 1 buah jeruk purut
  • minyak untuk menggoreng secukupnya
Cara Membuat Sambal Oelek
  1. Panaskan minyak secukupnya, masukkan cabe, bawang dan tomat hingga terendam. Goreng hingga matang atau mengkerut layu, lalu angkat dan tiriskan.
  2. Masukkan semua bahan yang digoreng tadi dalam ulekan, tambahkan garam, gula merah dan terasi. Ulek hingga halus serta aduk rata, lalu beri air perasan jeruk purut.

Resep Ikan Bakar Bumbu Kecap Pedas Manis - Menyajikan menu ikan bakar yang enak sebagai variasi menu makan harian bisa diolah dengan bahan yang mudah. Bermacam jenis ikan bila dimasak dengan cara dibakar tentunya akan memberikan suguhan hidangan dengan rasa dan aroma yang spesial.

Cara Membuat ikan bakar dengan lumuran perpaduan bumbu kecap dan bumbu sambal yang dihaluskan merupakan paduan resep bumbu ikan bakar pedas manis sederhana yang bisa kita pilih. Haluskan :
  • 10 buah cabe merah keriting
  • 6 butir bawang merah
  • 4 siung bawang putih
  • 2 cm jahe
Cara Membuat Ikan Bakar Bumbu Kecap Pedas
  1. Bersihkan bagian dalam ikan dan insang, buang sisik, kerat-kerat dan cuci bersih kemudian lumuri dengan air jeruk nipis sekitar 15 menit.
  2. Campurkan bumbu halus, kecap manis, olive oil atau minyak sayur, irisan cabe rawit dan garam lalu aduk rata.
  3. Lumuri ikan dengan campuran bumbu secara merata, bakar sampai matang sambil dibolak-balik dan sesekali melumuri sisa bumbu agar lebih meresap.

Resep Gurame Bakar Kecap - Ikan bakar bumbu kecap manis dengan bahan-bahan sederhana yang bercita rasa enak dan gurih. Selain itu kandungan protein ikan gurame cukup jauh lebih tinggi kadarnya bila dibandingkan dengan lele, nila atau ikan mas.

RESEP GURAME BAKAR KECAP MANIS
Gurame bakar kecap enak dengan pemakaian bumbu-bumbu yang sederhana dan praktis cara membuatnya bisa menjadi pilihan referensi untuk melengkapi variasi menu makan sehari-hari.

Bahan dan bumbu untuk gurame bakar bumbu kecap :
  • 2 ekor ikan gurame
  • 1 buah jeruk nipis untuk lumuran
  • 8 sdm kecap manis
  • 1 buah tomat merah dipotong-potong dadu kecil
  • 2 lembar daun jeruk
  • 1/2 sdt kaldu bubuk atau penyedap rasa sesuai selera
  • 150 ml air
  • 1/2 sdt garam
  • minyak untuk menumis bumbu
Haluskan :
  • 1 sdm ketumbar
  • 8 butir bawang merah
  • 5 buah cabe merah besar
  • 4 cm jahe
CARA MEMBUAT GURAME BAKAR KECAP MANIS
  1. Bersihkan sisik ikan, buang isi perut dan insang kemudian kerat-kerat badannya. Cuci bersih selanjutnya lumuri dengan air perasan jeruk nipis dan diamkan selama 15 menit.
  2. Panaskan minyak, tumis bumbu halus dan daun jeruk hingga harum lalu masukkan tomat. Tuang air, garam dan kaldu bubuk, aduk rata serta masak hingga kuah mengental. Lanjutkan dengan memasukkan kecap manis, aduk rata lalu matikan api.
  3. Lumuri ikan dengan tumisan bumbu tersebut secara merata pada bagian luar dan bagian dalam ikan. Bakar ikan yang sudah dilumuri tersebut, jangan lupa dibalik agar matang merata sambil terus lumurkan atau oles dengan bumbu tumisan tadi lalu angkat.
  4. Gurame bakar sudah siap untuk dihidangkan, kita bisa melengkapi penyajiannya dengan sambal kecap, sambal jahe atau aneka sambal lainnya untuk menambahkan kombinasi cita rasa pedas.
